Ernest Thompson Family of Products
Handcrafted Wood Furnishings
Nearly 40 years after we opened our doors, Ernest Thompson fine furniture is still handmade-to-order, constructed with traditional mortis and tenon joinery, solid wood, precisely inset drawers and doors, and finished with our multiple-step hand-rubbed sumptuous finishes. All ET furniture is Made in the USA, built in our Albuquerque, New Mexico workshop with skilled local artisans and craftsmen. Select a classic ET heirloom style such as our Truchas, Tuscan, Pecos, Del Mar, or Santa Fe; or, let our ET designers help you to design a unique custom furnishing in your own choice of style, wood, and finish. Sombraje Twig Shutters, Screens, Furniture and Cabinetry
Sombraje, translating literally as “branch covered screen,” is a centuries-old regional tradition of creating window coverings from gathered twigs and branches. Originally, Sombraje shutters were used to block out light and heat within the region’s adobe dwellings, while still allowing cooling breezes to circulate . In today’s modern home, Sombraje twig panels are used in a variety of ways to create functional yet extraordinarily beautiful home window coverings, room dividers, and furniture panels. Ernest Thompson Custom Cabinetry
When the custom housing boom of the 1990s and early 2000s surged through the southwest, ET quickly became one of New Mexico’s premier providers of furniture-grade custom cabinetry. As specialists in customization, our customers choose ET when they want a cabinetmaker who can be flexible with builders, designers and architects, creative in design, and who can deliver a high quality and exceptionally durable, classically styled product. And, since we’ve built furniture the right way from the very beginning, we are specialists in all the details that make great cabinetry: panel construction, inset doors, french dovetailed drawers, hand carved details, mouldings, durable glides and hinges, upscale decorative hardware and cabinet lighting. We build furniture-grade cabinetry for every space and purpose and in every style and finish - from kitchens, islands and butlers’ pantries, to bathrooms, from home offices and media rooms to outdoor kitchens. We have extensive experience with individual residential customers, with designers across the country, and with both residential and commercial/contract projects.
